2010 looks set to be a busy year, so keep an eye out for our monthly newsletters as we will be bringing you the latest EGU news, keeping you up to date on all the current issues.

Get your clubs to register to the EGU CDHtoday so they can join the hundreds of clubs who can:
• Automatically send, receive and input qualifying away scores • Interrogate the basic detail of all golfers with handicaps in England (membership status, handicap and last updated, active/inactive) • Pull golfers details from the CDH to populate start sheets (check with your software supplier)

A fantastic 268 golf clubs have now been awarded GolfMark (incorporating Clubmark), the national standard for junior and beginner friendly facilities, with a further 546 working towards accreditation! GolfMark Clubs receive a variety of rewards including an opportunity to take part in the Sainsbury Active Kids scheme which allows awarded facilities to redeem vouchers for equipment. Many golf clubs are currently planning activities for beginners and members for the coming season. To support this, the EGU/EWGA have the Recruitment & Retention Toolkit available, providing a variety of flexible ideas to adapt and use.
- What golfers want from their membership - Overcoming barriers to golf club membership - Types of membership packages.
To coincide with this resource, the Regional Development Officer network is available to offer support and provide best practice examples to your clubs.
The toolkit includes information regarding the following:
- The benefits of an induction programme - How the Tee to Green Introductory Programme works - Adapting the programme and resources to suit individual golf clubs
The 2010 Club Coaching Grant scheme will run from 1st April to 31st March 2011, with a grant of £600 available to support recruitment and retention activities within GolfMark accredited facilities. Full details will be available in March 2010.
The 2010 Golf Club Membership Questionnaire will be distributed to all affiliated golf clubs over the coming weeks, with the option to complete online or by post. This vital piece of research helps to monitor membership trends over time and also supports the Development Team in focusing their resources.
